Yale Bulldog tradition began a few years earlier in 1890, when Harper a champion English Bulldog was brought to football games to inspire the athletes. It was not until 1892 that there is record of Dan as a mascot.
Yale was the first university in United States to adopt a mascot and to this date none is better known than Handsome Dan.
Handsome Dan first breed was English Bulldogs has a sweet, gentle disposition, dependable, predictable and actively solicit human attention, but have more health condition issues.

Yale decided to switched breed English Bulldogs to Olde English Bulldogges, by switching to Olde English Bulldogges breed they have now Handsome Dan XVIII WALTER, was born on September 23, 2016.

He is currently mascot bulldog of Yale University, Handsome Dan inspires the students, athletes of the university. Giving them boost of moral to be on their best shape, to do their best in academic and chosen sports.
The university decided to have a Bronze Sculpture of their mascot in a bench around the campus, where students can stop by to take their photos, or just sit in the bench with Handsome Dan.

Many don’t know that Bronze is one of the best material to use in “modern statuary” it is 90 % copper and 10 % tin, that can withstand in any weather condition. Making Bronze Sculpture/artwork is a highly skilled work, needed to work by your hand, the process on which most Bronze Sculpture are made called lost-wax casting.

Creating Bronze Sculpture needed hardwork by artisan/craftsman, it can take 4-6 weeks to process the sculpture from moulding to finishing. You need to be an experienced artisan to create Bronze Sculpture to call out the attention of any sculpture enthusiast. He will understand and can guide you in every step to create your own Bronze Sculpture, you can work with the artisan closely until your idea is in reality.

Let’s talk about patina first, what is Patina?

Patina is the green or brown film on the surface of bronze or similar metals, produced by oxidation over long period of time due to age and exposure. It is created by the slow chemical reaction of copper with carbon dioxide and water, producing a basic copper carbonate.

An applied patina often deliberately as a part of the original design and decoration of art and furniture by artists and metalworkers.

First caution for your bronze sculpture is to do no harm. Your bronze sculpture can be displayed indoor or outdoor, bronze as a metal can withstand to any climate condition. Most bronze sculpture are place outdoor using them as landmark for school, business or public property. Keeping them clean is a challenging tasked, you need to have the right tools and materials to clean them so they can look as new as ever.

Materials you need to clean the bronze sculpture:
*Soft cloth, soft brush, toothbrush and flat brush

Make sure they are dirt and oil free. Use these materials to gently brush the dirt away first, make sure not to scratch it.

*Johnson’s Traffic Wax, Renaissance Wax or Tire Wax Brand Paste Wax

Foundries recommend these brands paste for cleaning your bronze sculpture. After brushing away the dirt, applied very thin even coat of wax to the soft cloth, soft brush or toothbrush. Allow the wax to sit in and dry before polishing it.
Avoid using waxes or polishes that contain cleaning agents, also laundry detergent these products have harsh chemicals that can ruin or damage your bronze sculpture.

Using a clean soft cloth gently rub the surface of the bronze sculpture until the desired shine appears. You can do a second coat of wax it will add additional gloss.

Remember bronze is a durable metal but you need to take care and clean it so it will last long for centuries.

Muhammad Ali, the charismatic three-time heavyweight boxing champion of the world, who declared himself “the greatest” and proved it with his fists, the force of his personality and his magnetic charisma, and who transcended the world of sports to become a symbol of the antiwar movement of the 1960s and a global ambassador for cross-cultural understanding, died June 3 at a hospital in Scottsdale, Ariz., where he was living. He was 74.

His family released a statement confirming his death. The boxer had been hospitalized with respiratory problems related to Parkinson’s disease, which had been diagnosed in the 1980s.

Mr. Ali dominated boxing in the 1960s and 1970s and held the heavyweight title three times. His fights were among the most memorable and spectacular in history, but he quickly became at least as well known for his colorful personality, his showy antics in the ring and his standing as the country’s most visible member of the Nation of Islam.

His in ring performances were history making and are talked about to this day among the sport of boxing. We obtained a bronze life size heavy cast version of him from an Italian foundry that created him some time ago which we found during our world travels. He has occupied our showroom for many years as we are fans of his great boxing career. Now we are putting him up for sale to let a new fan celebrate his life and accomplishments forever.

They are only with us now because once they were thought to have been lost forever.

Watch Here: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/vestiges-of-an-ancient-greek-art-form-preserved-by-catastrophe/

While marble statues are most popularly associated with the Classical Age, in the Hellenistic Period — between Alexander the Great’s death in 323 B.C. and the rise of Rome in 31 B.C. — bronze was the premiere sculptural form.

Yet because of the nature of the medium — an alloy comprising copper, tin, aluminum and other metals — most of those works were melted down through the ages to produce helmets, shields, hinges and a host of other objects needed at the time.

“The ones that we don’t have and we haven’t found are gone forever because they were melted down. And that’s the vast majority, thousands and thousands,” said Kenneth Lapatin, co-creator of the exhibit “Power and Pathos,” which originated at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

It’s now at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, showcasing some 50 bronzes once lost in fires, shipwrecks, volcanoes and earthquakes, and includes the statue base of one of the greatest bronze sculptors, Lysippos, the favorite of Alexander the Great.

“He was the Michelangelo of the period. We know from ancient writers that he made 1,500 statues. Not a single one survives, and that stone base is the closest we can get to his work,” Lapatin said.

Our new life-size bronze Kneeling Soldier memorial is now available for pre-order. This piece is truly amazing and is a great way to pay tribute to the men and women who have defended this country and who are currently defending our great country. As we are all from military families, we decided to create a life-size kneeling soldier with the help of one client to fit along with our battle cross, war memorial. As we are selling this for discounted wholesale price, we will save your organization money.

Similar sized sculptures in heavy cast bronze run about $75,000. to ludicrous, unreasonable amounts as we never add any ego in our prices which saves your project a lot of money. Our prices are kept low while upholding high quality standards.

If you would like to create this design in a much larger size, feel free to contact us today as we can make any design, any size as no project is too big or if you would like to create a limited edition or full production run of desktop sized kneeling soldiers we can do that as well (minimum order quantities may apply, contact us direct).

Follow the link to our main website for more images and information or contact us anytime Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm eastern time at (302) 738-2190.
